24HOA

my first 24 hour event has come and gone in relative success. the 24hoa, being a team relay format, is quite different than what i'd experience in a longer adventure race, but it still felt good riding my 5th lap at hour 24, feeling like i still could go on for a few more. i had a ton of fun and loved having such a big group to ride with. (not to mention fun!)

new site

mulling over new designs for this site. it's mostly just for myself to keep track of stuff, and for my family to keep track of my crazy escapades. i don't really think anyone else comes here, but if so, hello!

night escapes

the BOD bike group had our big practice for 24HOA at the Conyers Int'l Horse Park (site of the '96 Olympic Mtn Bike course). riding at night for the first time in over a year (and really only my second time ever on singletrack) reminds me how peaceful the night is. you'd think racing through tight trails at night would be scary (ok, it still is a bit!), but somehow the darkness around you and the relative narrowness of your headlamp really makes you become one with your bike. it's nice to be able to forget about everything else for a bit.
