why i'm doing this meet my heros the society's mission donate now

I received a late donation during the recent Balance Bar Sprint Adventure Race I did with Team in Training, which gave me an idea... why not put this towards another event, something new and challenging?! So I convinced the office to let me sign up for the Gulf Coast Half Ironman Triathlon. Yes, my first tri! While this entire triathlon thing is new to me, I decided to sign up for the half iron (instead of the shorter olympic distance) to push myself more than I have during the last few events I've done with TNT. I've kept in my comfort zone and it's time to move past that. With the death of Collin, my patient hero last year, I realize that more than ever, I need to keep involved and continue to raise awareness of this amazing endurance training program and the good they bring. Every dollar I raise (the majority going to research) could help another patient win their battle. I can help make a difference, and so can you.

Rob Tanzola is our honored hero for the 2005 spring triathlons. Rob was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma earlier this year. He is a great supporter of TNT, cheering us on at several trainings already. We hope he can join us on a run soon!

AJ Avello was my honored patient hero for the 2004 Balance Bar Adv Race (and we hope to see him again in 2005!). AJ is 10 years old and currently undergoing treatment for ALL (acute lyphomcytic leukemia).

Collin Huggins was our adventure race patient hero for 2002 & 2003. After fighting ALL since he was 15 months old, Collin lost his battle in October 2003 at the age of 6. He was a true hero to us all and stays in our hearts still. This picture of Collin and I was taken at our pre-race dinner last June.
